Apart from our usual visitors, the Hill is home to some very, very special friends... We call them the Lightheart Hillies. The Lightheart Hillies are incredibly compassionate creatures who have great respect for the land and each other, are gentle and delicate, never forget their manners, and always leave the world a sweeter place. They spend most of their days smelling the roses, playing in the berry bushes, and spreading kindness.
The Hillies find beauty and magic in all things. They strongly believe that extra arms are for bigger hugs, dandelions are just as lovely as daffodils, and rainy days are a part of growth.
We hope that our little friends inspire you to be kind, gentle and happy. And we look forward to meeting you on our Hill!
Hilary Hensley
Wrigley is the most down-to-Earth creature on the Hill. He reminds us all to stretch, relax, and play in the dirt every once in awhile. Wrigley is grateful for everything, and begins each day by counting his blessings. His five hearts are full of gratitude!
Wait, wait! It's okay! Carol just wants to give you a large hug and tell you how beautiful you are, promise! Carol is a very misunderstood creature... she may look icky, but she's a real lovebug. She teaches everyone on the Hill that "ugly" creatures often have the most beautiful and caring souls.
Don't let Marigold's looks deceive you! Marigold is one of the bravest creatures on the Hill. Come wind or rain, she's not afraid to wear her heart on her wings! Marigold enjoys exploring, visiting with her flower-friends, and catching a breeze.
In many cultures, dragonflies are symbolic of hope, change, and happiness - and Dahlia is no exception! Dahlia encourages all of the Hillies to think positively about change. She understands the importance of new beginnings, and that change is necessary for growth. Without growth, the flowers wouldn’t bloom and the birds wouldn’t fly.
Maisie is a beautifully modest and humble creature. Although not as colorful as the butterflies on the Hill, Maisie is just as radiant and special! Maisie loves the quietness and complexity of nighttime. She values the opportunity to rest and be herself. And she isn’t afraid of the dark - she welcomes it! Maisie understands that darkness bares light, like the stars in the sky and the fireflies in the fields.
Owen the oriole may enjoy oranges, but love is his jam! Orioles are symbolic of many things, like balance, joy, and creativity. But Owen is most proud of his kind for being loyal. Orioles mate for life, and honor their relationships and each other. Owen inspires everyone on the Hill to be faithful and true.
As the great Albus Dumbledore once said: "Happiness can be found, even in the darkest of times, if one only remembers to turn on the light." Lumos always remembers to turn on his light - and reminds others to turn theirs on, too!
Holly is a real sweetheart with lots of energy. One might say all of that energy comes from a sugary diet… but everyone knows Holly was just born motivated! Holly loves completing tasks, and is always available to help her friends... Even the bees call Holly busy.
Thomas is a delightful creature that gobbles up joy! Thomas is one of the most social Hillies, and enjoys hosting all of the holiday dinners and parties on the Hill. Thomas encourages everyone to celebrate every achievement and holiday - whether you've just finished a tough task or it's your anniversary! (He's also an amazing chef… you’ll leave any one of his gatherings stuffed!)
Buzz is a gentle giant... a large, fuzzy, ball of love! Buzz looks big and scary, but he wouldn't hurt a fly (or any other bug for that matter.) Buzz is very laid back and finds happiness in simplicity; he enjoys watching sunsets, napping in blooms, drinking nectar, and smiling sweetly at lady bees.
Thumbeelina is shy, but sweet as honey! Thumbeelina enjoys hiding in her hive, reading books, writing stories, crafting, and spending quality time with her family. Thumbeelina believes that good things take time, and inspires others to be patient and creative.
